What is Neck Rejuvenation?

The Platisma muscle, also called the cutaneous of the neck, is one of the muscles of the face that helps carry out different types of facial expressions. When the platysma movements are carried out, a series of wrinkles occur on the skin of the neck.

When we think of our neck and chin region, the first thing that comes to mind is fighting the double chin. The platysma is intimately linked to a double chin.

As a person ages, the skin in the neck region tends to hang loose and gives the appearance of sagging, which is exacerbated if there is weight loss. On certain occasions, sagging is only present on the front of the neck. Two vertical folds are produced from the chin to the neck. In this case, a neck lift will not be necessary, but a cosmetic surgery of the platysma muscle or what will be called Neck Rejuvenation or suspension of the platysma may be carried out. In this case, skin will not be removed, but by stretching the platysma muscles at the top of the neck, the folds will disappear.

Neck Rejuvenation Details

Technique

The elevation of the platysma is an intervention that involves suturing the muscle in the midline of the neck. It is performed to eliminate the platysma bands or unsightly cords that appear with age.

The approach is performed through a small incision below the chin and to obtain a natural result, various interventions are combined such as:

- Liposuction of Chin or - The suture of the platysma muscle and muscle elevation, which shortens and lifts the muscle to make the neck look clean and smooth. - This will not only treat the double chin or double chin, but it will redefine the entire line of the mandibular arch, returning the lost youth trait to the neck and by extension also to the face.

This is a highly demanded technique, since it provides excellent results without the need to resort to major surgery or a neck lift.

Duration and Anesthesia

This Neck Rejuvenation technique is usually performed under local anesthesia and sedation and lasts approximately one to two hours, including the double chin liposculpture.

Postoperative

The recovery period of Neck Rejuvenation is milder than that of a neck lift.

In a couple of days you can join your social or work life. If it is done in the autumn-winter months it can be accompanied by the use of scarves.

The postoperative period is not painful, the patients describe a discomfort or tightness in the area, easily controllable with habitual analgesics.

To soften the inflammation, it is recommended during the first days to apply cold to the area and sleep with the head slightly elevated. Not doing physical activities for a month.

If there are spots, moles or dehydrated skin in the area to be treated, it could be combined with aesthetic medicine treatments.

Results

The results are visible immediately after the intervention, although it will take between 1 or 2 weeks for the inflammation to subside.

The intervention lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes
Ambulatory Local Anesthesia
Immediate incorporation, we recommend resting for 1 week
Platysma: If it is necessary to tighten the muscle due to loss of definition of the arch
