Effects of the Sun on the Skin

Sunbathing has been considered a healthy habit which also produces well-being and for it to continue being so, we should protect and take better care of our skin. We can have a beautiful tan and at the same time healthy and safe, protecting the skin from the sun and the excesses that we do in front of it.

We are going to integrate the concept of a beautiful and luminous tan, respecting our skin, not at the expense of it.

The skin is the organ most exposed to the environment, which most denotes the passage of time and which we have to pamper especially. This essential part of our body that, among other important functions, allows us to relate to the outside environment. An organ that we demand so much and that we neglect so much in these summer seasons, when we do not properly protect it from exposure to such a wonderful and vital star, but increasingly harmful thanks, among other things, to human intervention.

We must take action once and for all and take these precautions seriously, because they become tiresome and we do not pay attention to them. In short, make it compatible to live with him, without leaving our skin in the attempt. Only if we are aware of the harmful part, that the excesses produce when being in contact with it, will we take action and then, if we can enjoy the sun in a healthy way and show off a beautiful tanned skin damaging it as little as possible.

REFLECTIONS ON THE SUN

ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT

Sunlight is made up of visible and invisible radiation. The invisible fraction of light, represented by ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, are the components of sunlight with the greatest effect on the skin. The depth to which they act on our skin will depend on its wavelength and will be the cause of most photo-aging problems, producing premature aging, with fine and thick wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, large spots, yellowish complexion. and a rough and rough texture, even causing allergic reactions.

Lighter skin or lower phototypes will be much more vulnerable to these effects, although anyone with sufficient exposure will suffer these damages.

UV light is classified into three types: ultraviolet A (UVA), ultraviolet B (UVB), and ultraviolet C (UVC).

Longer UV rays penetrate to the deepest layer of the skin (dermis). It is responsible for immediate tanning, being capable of modifying 800 genes of the skin.

UVB rays, of shorter wavelength, only penetrate the first layer of the skin (epidermis). It is responsible for delayed tanning. Most of this radiation is filtered by the atmosphere.

Both radiations are responsible for altering cellular DNA and for skin cancer.

UVC rays. Its radiation is completely filtered by the atmosphere.

//////The ultraviolet rays they are more intense and dangerous in summer, in areas close to the equator, and at high altitudes. They can also have a significant intensity on cloudy days, in which we can get burned, even by diffuse light that is produced by reflection on water, sand and other surfaces. It can also pass through light clouds, fog and about 12 inches of clean water, preserving the possibility of burning ./////

Tanning

Let's understand each other. Tanning is a side effect of sun exposure, produced by the damage that is inflicted on our skin. The skin naturally defends itself from excess sun by manufacturing melanin, which darkens the skin and leads to a tan. Melanin thickens the skin and absorbs UV light and prevents it from penetrating into the cells of the deepest tissues. It also prepares the skin for the following exposures.

TIPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN

  • Use a sunscreen with a protection index of at least 15. It should be applied to all skin exposed to the sun, including the lips and ears.
  • Use suitable sun protection for your skin photo-type, applying it 30 minutes before sun exposure and renewing it every 2 hours, even if you have not bathed.
  • Choose a quality photo-protector and apply an adequate amount of product. Be generous in applying the protection so as not to diminish its effect.
  • The first contact with the sun should be done little by little and take extreme measures of protection. In white skin do not exceed more than 10-15 minutes in the sun. The average ones about 15-20 minutes and the darkest ones not exceeding 30 minutes.
  • The photo-protector must incorporate UVA and UVB filters, and it is recommended that UVB is 3 times higher than UVA.
  • Protect your eyes and head from the sun. Solar radiation can cause cataracts. Put special emphasis on the face, neck, décolleté, forearms and ears. And especially those people who work outdoors and those who, not being a summer season, do not protect themselves properly when they carry out any activity in the sun.
  • Do not lower the protection even if you are tanned. The sun's rays are still harmful.
  • Reducing the time of sun exposure while being protected, also reduces the incidence of skin cancer. The time to sunbathe is limited, that is called solar capital.
  • The more you've burned, the higher your risk of skin cancer. The skin has memory, and does not erase the sun damage that is inflicted on it.
  • Plan your outdoor activities outside of the hottest hours of the day (between 12 am and 4 pm)
  • Use waterproof protectors if you bathe or sweat a lot.
  • Drink between 1.5 and 2 liters of water a day
  • There are medications that can be photo-sensitizing. Consult with a specialist

MY BEAUTY TIPS

Exfoliate the skin once a week if possible in the afternoon, after having sunbathed and provided that you have not burned. Far from thinking that exfoliation will remove your tan, make it look more homogeneous, luminous and will last longer.

Deeply hydrate the skin of the face and body. I would recommend that you hydrate it 2 times a day. In addition to the moisturizing effect of the creams, they will form a film that will prevent the loss of water from the skin.

I would recommend that you use Aloe Vera gel format. It is purer, penetrates immediately and is suitable for all skin types. You can find it in pharmacies therefore they will be totally reliable. I discovered it a few years ago and of course the change that occurred in my skin was considerable. I use it on demand. At least 3 or 4 times a day. If you use it when you hydrate with cream both on the face and body, the order would be gel and then cream.

Aloe among its many properties, highlights its high moisturizing power, serves to calm the skin if you have been burned. It also helps to repair and regenerate the skin. I hope you like it.

How to prepare the skin for the summer?

Summer is coming, the summer time par excellence, which invites us not only to enjoy our free time but to show off our best looks. For a complete look, nothing better than preparing the skin to look hydrated, luminous, uniform and elastic. Today in this post we will deal with how to prepare our skin so that it looks splendid at this time, with one of the star treatments of the summer and that each year is positioned more strongly for its effectiveness. Ferulic Acid Summer Peeling.

Let's go by parts, fundamentally the treatments should be aimed at:

Renovate the horny layer of the skin (more superficial), eliminating dead cells, which allows us to convert rough and rough skin (a symptom of dehydrated and dull skin) into skin with a smooth, clean and uniform-looking texture.

Hydrate the skin in depth, as a consequence of cell renewal, an increase in the production of collagen and elastin cells is achieved.

Reinforce it and to protectthe to prevent from the harmful effects of the sun.

We can achieve all this with Feulic acid summer peels.

As I already explained in the post ??, depending on the depth to which we go with the peels, they can be superficial, medium and deep. The choice of depth depends in many cases on the results we want to obtain and the quality of the skin we treat. These last 2 peels are always recommended to be carried out after the summer, when we are no longer going to have direct exposure to the sun, as in summer times. From fall to even late spring, if it were mild and not overly sunny.

Summer peels are within the range of superficial peels, which only treat the corneal layer (the most superficial of our skin) and renew it, eliminating dead cells from the stratum corneum in a controlled way, leaving it more luminous, clean, and elastic. and uniform. It has an excellent tolerance, since the peeling is minimal and imperceptible, so the treatment does not separate us from our social life.

If we combine the effects of superficial peeling with the properties of ferulic acid, we have the perfect combination to make an exceptional treatment for the skin.

  • Ferulic acid is a plant compound with high antioxidant power, which protects the skin from the attacks caused by free radicals, inhibiting and neutralizing their action. Protects cellular DNA, which gives it an anti-cancer effect. Provides skin protection from UVB and UVA rays. It enhances the antioxidant action of vitamins C and E. It prevents premature aging caused by ultraviolet rays, since it stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin, inducing intense hydration. It acts on wrinkles, helping to prevent the appearance of expression lines and smoothing existing ones. Firms and improves skin elasticity, keeping it looking younger.
  • Reduces the accumulation of melanin, reducing and lightening spots, unifying the skin tone. Protects the dermal layer. This acid is capable of creating a protective shield that prevents damage caused by the sun and makes sun filters more effective.

This acid can be used for medium peels, increasing the number of layers and sealing the treatment with active ingredients that contain retinoic acid, which remains on the skin for a few hours. These peels would be advisable after the summer, to more deeply alleviate the harmful effects of the sun, producing a more visible peeling, which will last a couple of days but not so scandalous that they separate us from social life. It's peeling like when you peel after a mild sunburn.

The peeling sessions do not last more than 30 minutes and can be carried out even once a week. Although there is no deep peeling, if we are trying to unify the skin tone, it would be advisable to use a high protection factor, although this should be a constant in our beauty routines throughout the year, regardless of whether you submit to this type of treatment.

I must admit that I am in love with ferulic acid peels, for their safety, their effectiveness and for the high degree of satisfaction it creates in patients and in the professional who uses them.
